I have been tutoring for 6+ years, teaching students from KS1 to A Levels at a sixth form. Previously, I have volunteered in a local tuition centre, tutoring children from disadvantaged backgrounds for a few months. I've worked with many students here, with different needs and learning approaches. I have also been tutoring 1 to 1 privately as well as in my previous secondary school, so I am very aware of the content from different exam boards.
Initially, I like to have an overall structure of how our lessons will go, and where the student should be at different stages of the year. I plan each lesson according to the students' needs, ensuring they are progressing every lesson. I give students a small test during the first lesson with me so I can see where the student is at currently. I also throw a few small quizzes/tests every few lessons to test the students knowledge on previously taught topics. Students are set small quizzes before and after every new topic covered and will rate their understanding of the topics from 0 to 10 before and after new topics.
I have lots of experience with Edexcel and AQA in GCSE Sciences (or combined). I also have lots of experience with OCR, Edexcel, AQA and Eduqas in GCSE Maths. I have experience teaching A Level OCR Chemistry and A Level Edexcel Maths. However, I have the knowledge and ability to teach other exam boards.
Previous students have started their tutoring journey with me at grades 5-6 and have achieved grades 8s and 9s!
