Hi, I'm Bea, an enthusiastic tutor and teacher with over 2 years of experience!
I have recently completed my PGCE to become a secondary Science teacher, and have been awarded Qualified Teacher Status. I have tutored in Maths, English and Science part-time throughout my school and university career, with students starting with a range of abilities. I love science, especially Biology, which led me to complete my undergraduate degree at the University of Bristol in Physiology.
I have worked as a tutor both independently and for an agency, working with students from 5 to 17 years old. For students working towards exams such as A-Levels and GCSEs, my main focus is on getting the student through the exams with the highest grade possible - my key strategies in these sessions are working on exam technique and going through potential questions, to build confidence and to ensure the students are able to achieve their potential and beyond! For students who need extra support, I usually plan lessons around curriculum content which the student has highlighted as an area of weakness.
Depending on what area the student would like to focus on eg. a specific area of the curriculum, GCSE exam practice, I will structure a lesson plan in advance. I tend to deliver a mixture of curriculum content and exam questions, unless specified otherwise, to give the student a good basis on knowledge and also a chance to practice.
I am very familiar with exam boards and up-to-date with the curriculum, as I have just completed my PGCE in a local state school in Bristol, especially AQA and OCR.
