Recent Cambridge Computer Science graduate looking to share a love for Maths and Computing.
My favourite subject to tutor is Maths as it has always been a preference of mine, and this includes tutoring for 11+ and other verbal and non-verbal reasoning tests. I would love the chance to help teach students how to code so I can give the same opportunities that I think it has given me in life
I have more than 40 hours tutoring experience so far, ranging from tutoring small groups of Year 2/3 and Year 5 students to one-on-one tuition in preparation for 7+ and 13+ exams, and for GCSE Computer Science and A Level Maths.
I tend to conduct GCSE/A Level lessons as a means of continual consolidation for what is learnt in class each week, and to offer extension to this where pertinent, and then help to structure revision nearing exam/assessment time. For other subjects/levels (where there is no immediate assessment pressure) I believe there is a lot of value in pushing students further and helping them understand concepts rather than simply learning them. I will set homework of different natures for different students; some might need repetition exercises set if they are not self-motivated enough to practice or struggle with a concept, whereas some students would benefit more from the opportunity to spend more time on a question that requires more insight. I won't always set homework, particularly if the student seems to understand what has been targeted in a lesson very well.
