I am an experienced Primary School Teacher and also tutor students for A Level Psychology, eleven plus entrance exams, KS3 and GCSE Combined Science, as well as KS3 and GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics and KS1 and KS2 English and Maths.
I have both knowledge and experience behind educating students, focusing on not only the psychology of it in my degree but also how to teach effectively. My expertise lies mainly in essay subjects, my degree was heavily essay based and thus have massively built on essay writing skills that began developing in my A-Levels. I have learnt a wealth of skills that have helped improve my own essays to achieve a first class degree and can transfer these skills to students in order to help them with not only the content that is needed but also the skills. I am also getting my qualifications for primary teaching, so I have the knowledge and experience of working with younger children and helping them to further support their education, even through online lessons. I am also a qualified Primary School Teacher.
I have been tutoring for a year, and last years' students have not only had an improvement in their grades, but their academic confidence. I am extremely reliable and passionate about education and the subjects I tutor as well as being engaged in the student's journey.
The first lesson would be very casual, getting to know how the student works and the areas that they feel they personally need the most help with and their own goals. For younger children it would be more simple in asking what they like and don't like and building upon that and noticing from how we work together which areas we should spend more time on. For older students the lesson would begin with a recap of the previous lesson, then going over any extra work that was set for them to complete or discuss a piece of work that I have marked. The first half of the lesson would be spent going over content and knowledge and the second portion of the lesson would be how to apply this to exam questions and discussing mark schemes. Depending on the student it is flexible in terms of how much time they would prefer to spend on each section. The lesson would end with some optional work to complete outside of lesson time for longer essay questions. For younger children the lesson would be a similar format but depending on the student we would focus either more on their understanding of concepts they learn in school or it could be more focused on SAT exams and preparing the children for those or a combination for those.
