STEM Graduate with A* in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry at GCSE and A-Levels offering tuition. In my first lesson I assess the student to gauge their understanding of the fundamentals and identify areas in which the student needs support. This helps me tailor my approach to the student's need and allows the student to get the most out of our lessons. I also aim to keep the parents updated about the student's progress to ensure their expectations are being met.
I have tutored students ranging from Year 7 to A Levels for over two years now and have seen an improvement in my students' grades, but more importantly their understanding of the subject. For KS3 students my aim has always been to build the basics ensuring the student will succeed in that subject at GCSEs For GCSE student a big part of tutoring is focused on securing the target grade, whilst prepping the student for further studies in the subject if they so wish to pursue. For A-Levels, the tutoring approach is broken down by module which allows me to single out the student's strengths and areas of improvement. Based on this, a target for each module is devised to help the student achieve their overall goal.
I start off by assessing the student to ascertain their current understanding of the subject and key topics. I use this to design a course which is tailored to the student's needs. I then share and discuss the approach with the student and parents and set milestones to monitor the progress. I will also at this point start setting work for the student outside of the lesson to ensure we get the most out of my approach. Having ascertained the learning style which is most beneficial for the student, as well as the pace the student likes to work at, I can now optimise the approach I take and plan a strategy so that the student has the best chance to meet, and hopefully exceed their targets and goals. This strategy will be a flexible one and will be amended depending on the needs of the student as well as the requirements of all of the exams the student is working towards.
