Enthusiastic academic with over 20 years teaching experience in electronic/electrical engineering, and computer available to tutor GCSE and A Level Maths, Physics and Further Maths as well as Computer Studies. Also tutors students for the Scottish system exams
I hold a PhD in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering, specialising in wireless sensor networks, digital signal processing, sensor data fusion, and machine learning. My passion lies in teaching and guiding students to grasp complex concepts with clarity and confidence, fostering a deep understanding of the subject matter. My teaching philosophy emphasizes a student-centred approach, focusing on building a strong foundation in key concepts and fostering critical thinking skills.
Drawing on my over 20 years of experience as a Lecturer, teaching associate and graduate teaching assistant, both within the UK and internationally, I tailor my tutoring approach to each student's unique learning style and pace. I have taught physics, maths and programming at GCSE, undergraduate and graduate levels. I strive to create an engaging and supportive learning environment that encourages active participation and critical thinking. My aim is not just to help students achieve their academic goals but also to instil in them a lifelong passion for learning.
I believe in the importance of structured lesson plans tailored to the individual needs of each student. Before each session, I assess the student's current understanding and areas of difficulty to customize the lesson content accordingly. Throughout the session, I provide clear explanations, interactive exercises, and real-world examples to reinforce learning.
I am familiar with the curriculum and assessment criteria of various exam boards, including AQA and Edexcel.
More than 85 percent of MSc students I taught in a module I designed and delivered were happy as shown in the module feedback survey. A Pre-Masters student with limited MATLAB experience successfully completed their project with a strong understanding of the software after my tutoring sessions.
