I have been a Science GCSE and A-level teacher for five years, including being Head of the 6th Form at my previous school. This includes Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I have taught all three to A-level standard. As well as Science, I teach Psychology to A-level standard, having graduated with a 1st class degree in the subject alongside a distinction level Masters degree in education. I ensure all my lessons are enjoyable, engaging and learnful, tailoring the teaching to the specific needs of the student. I consistently inspire students to work hard and, crucially, achieve their maximum potential.

I have tutored principally in school but now wish to do so online. One to one teaching is a great opportunity to tailor lessons to the specific needs of the student. Identifying their strenghts and weakness, and ensuring they are challenged whilst engaged. This balance ensures the students progresses at the most rapid rate possible, and attains the best GCSE qualifications they can.

Lessons are tailored to what fits the student best. Often we begin with a review of the previous lesson, to ensure the learning has been maintained. Following this there is teaching of the subject, but it is important for the student to be immersed and involved in their learning, as opposed to a passive role. Ensuring the student is critically thinking and understanding the content is key, and so mini-assessments are used sporadically to know where the understanding is and where more time is needed in which areas. Homework will be given most weeks and will be covered in the lesson the following week.

My students achieved the best results in Science that my previous school had ever seen, and whilst as Head of 6th form every student achieved their first choice university; an unprecedented achievement for the school.
