Hi I'm Emma. I have tutored since 2011, and I have been teaching at an independent school in Bristol since 2016, which I absolutely love. I currently teach Science to KS3, and Physics at GCSE and Alevel. I have also been accepted to be an examiner for AQA GCSE Physics for the upcoming exam season. I have a degree in Physics (BSc (Hons) ) from the University of Bath, and I undertook my PGCE at the University of Bristol. I have experienced the process of applying for a STEM subject at University level, and am happy to offer guidance and help to those currently applying. I am experienced in helping my students write personal statements and prepare for University level interviews. I am an enthusiastic qualified teacher, and have a detailed understanding of the exam process and what can be asked in the exam from the course syllabus. I am experienced in stretching the most able students to achieve top grades, and also coaching students who find the subject more difficult, and want to achieve a pass grade. Given the current COVID-19 situation, I am happy to be flexible on my pricing.
I previously tutored from 2008 until 2015. I have now resumed tutoring and have tutored since May 2020. (I had a small break to focus on my career).
As a full time teacher, I have a wealth of planning resources at my fingertips. I would provide lessons with resources such as powerpoints, worksheets and exam style questions, and I would email them to you afterwards to review prior to the next lesson.
I currently teach the AQA syllabus for Physics GCSE, and Edexcel syllabus for Physics Alevel. I have past experience of teaching Edexcel for GCSE and iGCSE, and OCR and AQA at Alevel. I am experienced in finding and understanding the course syllabus and explaining to the student how that translates to what can be asked in an exam.
As a tutor, I have helped 3 students to move up an ability group in school. As a teacher, I have had a lot of success with my classes in exams, a particular highlight for me was one of my classes in which 97% achieved grades 7-9 at GCSE.

“My daughter was concerned about her progress in science. Emma has encouraged her and she now is very enthusiastic aand confident about the subject again. Emma is a great teacher and I would recommend her!”
