I have been tutoring for 8 years now, having started when I was in Year 11. I have tutored children of all ages, as well as a few adults. I am extremely confident in tutoring GCSE students and below, as I achieved all A*’s and A’s at GCSE’s. I can also tutor A-level students in Biology and Chemistry, as I attained an A* and an A for those subjects. After doing extensive research into effective revision styles, I came upon Active Recall and Spaced Repetition; methods that often take time to get used to and may not be picked up in school lessons. Using these revision styles have helped me achieve high grades in my GCSE and A-levels, and I assure I can help you apply these methods to your own revision. As I am a dental student, I can also assist students who are planning on going through the tough medical and dental school admissions process (as both are very similar). Having gone through hard interviews and the UCAT myself, I often wish I had someone to help and guide me. I also achieved an A* in my Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which many A-level students choose to pursue, so I would be more than happy to help with that too.

I have been tutoring for the past 8 years in a variety of school subjects, mainly Maths, English, and Sciences. I have taught different ages of children, from Year 2 to A-level students, so I am confident in my tutoring.

First, I determine the level a student is at by having conversations with them, and providing a sample quiz. I also try and determine what areas of that subject they struggle with, by providing sample questions, and from there I start lesson planning and look at using different revision methods (after asking the student what has and hasn't worked for them in the past, and what new methods they are willing to try). I try and use Spaced Repetition and Active Recall with all my students, as these two methods have proven to be the most effective when it comes to revision.

I did a variety of exams with AQA and Edexcel, at both GCSE and A-level, so I am quite familiar with their specifications and the type of exam preparation needed. I also have experience with OCR and Cambridge. If you need tutoring for another specification, then I am confident I can learn and adapt my teaching to that as well.

All of my past students have increased their grades and been very happy with the teaching I provide, and have adopted revision methods that I have taught in other subjects, which they report that they have greatly improved in too.
