Qualified Maths and ICT KS3 and KS4 Teacher
Hello, my name is Andrea and I am a secondary Maths and ICT Teacher. I did my degree in the Czech Republic, where I also used to be an English (as a foreign language) tutor during my studies. An Erasmus program brought me to the UK and after a few months of teaching here I decided to stay permanently. In the past three years I worked both as a Teaching assistant and a Teacher which allowed me to work with individuals or small groups as well as with the whole classes accross the KS3, KS4 and partially KS5, therefore I am very familiarwith both GCSE Maths and GCSE ICT curriculum. I believe that anyone can learn, students just need different amount of time, different approach and methods and a bit of motivation.
As an English tutor, I worked for a Language school in the Czech Republic for almost 4 years. Our lessons took place both in a class and online so I am familiar with the difficulties an online teaching may bring sometimes and I have developed a few strategies to minimise the difference between an online and face-to-face teaching. In 2017 I started my placement in the UK. I started as a Teaching assistant which helped me to get myself familiar with an English educational system and soon after I started to lead a few maths intervention classes for small groups. I also got to teach the whole programming block to the Computer Science class and during that I manage to create a small booklet for students to help them revise and organise the new gained knowledge. I also spent a term in a secondary school in South Liverpool as a Maths teacher. I taught classes from Y7 up to Y13 statistic class including GCSE resit classes as well.
My lesson planning differs from student to student. We can either agree the topic (content) of the lesson at the end of previous one or create a lesson plan for a few lessons in advance or we can just follow national curriculum and scheme of work of a school.
