Hi I'm Anand, an Economics graduate and current LSE postgraduate offering Maths and Further Maths tuition at all levels.
I hold a First Class Honours in BSc Economics and, am completing a Master's degree. i have personally achieved all 9s and A*s in my school subjects. Maths has been part of my daily work for years, and I use it regularly in my own research. I tutor Maths and Further Maths at all levels, including Further Maths Mechanics and Statistics. Lessons with me are relaxed and conversational, and I always encourage students to ask questions.
I've been tutoring since 2022, working both one-to-one and in small groups with students at all levels (from primary school all the way up to A-Level).
I usually first assess what the student is working towards, where they feel confident and where they don't, and I'll set a few problems to see how they approach things to give me a clear picture. After that I prepare a plan for each session in advance, built around the topics the student needs as well as their timeline. A typical lesson opens with a quick review of the previous session before moving into new material with worked examples, then shifts to the student attempting questions independently, with me stepping in where needed. Homework usually consists of a set of targeted questions. We go over any issues in the following lesson, and I use it to decide what we revisit. Closer to exams, we work through past papers and mark schemes to get a good feel for how to score well.
I'm familiar with AQA, Edexcel and OCR specifications at GCSE and A-level, and work from the relevant specification and past papers. I keep track of the differences in question style and marking between boards, and make sure students practise the format they'll sit.
All of my previous students have achieved at least an 8 for GCSE and at least an A at A-Level for Maths or Further Maths.
