First Class Mathematics with Education graduate
I graduated from Plymouth University July 2020 with a First Class degree in mathematics with education and have a love for tutoring. I like to work one on one with students to improve their confidence, keep them engaged and target the lessons to their specific needs in both English and Maths.
During my final year I took part in a school placement module where I assisted the maths department of a high school working with classes as well as individuals covering a range of ages and abilities. Throughout my A-Levels and University I have tutored students from primary school ages to GCSEs.
I structure my lessons using what the student is learning in school to determine where they need extra support. I ensure we go through lots of examples and recap on previous topics to check the student has understood.
Whilst attending a high school every week to assist with the maths department I worked closely with GCSE students going through practice questions and past exam papers. This familiarised me with the current curriculum.
Working successfully with one individual I was able to help her go from a C grade (level 4) to an A grade (level 7) over the course of a few months. This drastically improved her confidence and allowed her to move up sets in her maths lessons.
