Qualified Biology Teacher
A Level, GCSE and Key Stage 3 Biology teacher.
Since 2010 I have volunteered as a tutor with a revision holiday camp. This takes place every year during the Easter holidays, and I help A Level and GCSE Biology students, and the occasional PE student with Anatomy and Physiology. I have also tutored GCSE Biology for the foundation paper in the last year.
I think it is important to maintain student engagement throughout the session, so I use varied activities, for example: clips, card sort games, key word games, memory games, timed challenges. I always link back to the exam specification and aim to use exam questions to assess understanding by the end of the session.
I have taught the new specification AQA A Level and GCSE (teaching from 2016).
As a classroom teacher, I would always aim to have total pupil engagement and motivation in my lessons. My students were able to achieve their predicted grades or better, and I would closely monitor their achievement throughout the year and address any areas of concern.
