Science Tutor for Key stage 3 and GCSE students
I am a mother of four who has taught for 20 years and worked in secondary for the last 13 years. I am based in Barnsley, but happy to travel to Sheffield and Wakefield. My current role involves working with students who struggle in main stream school for a variety of reasons, helping them gain a science qualification for GCSE. I also tutor for a company based in Wakefield and am studying part time for a diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, which provides skills which work well alongside my current role. I offer individual sessions or group sessions (3-4 students).
I have tutored privately for a number of years with a high success rate and also currently work with a tuition centre. delivering science tutoring for their students.
I plan all my lessons. I have taught both AQA and Edexcel (Now Pearson) schemes of work for GCSE and have written schemes for and taught BTEC level 2 in applied science. For Key Stage 3, I have written schemes for delivery for both topic based and single science which build good foundations for GCSE study.
I am an exam marker for AQA and Edexcel (now Pearson) and have been since 2009. I mainly mark Physics but have in the past also marked Biology and Chemistry.
I have taught students from a variety of backgrounds and with a variety of needs. Student's under my guidance have achieved what they want. Even those who struggle with science achieve a minimum of their target grade under my care. Many of the student's I tutor are hard working, take advice well and as a result have achieved grade 6 or above. I cannot credit them enough for the hard work they put in.
