Maths & Computer Science Tutor | Computer Science Student at university. I received A Level Maths A* | Relaxed, fun, tailored and supportive lessons for every student
I know that Maths and Computer Science can be daunting subjects and hard for students to wrap their heads around sometimes, which is why I’m dedicated to teaching lessons that are fun, relatable and enjoyable. I aim to create a supportive, pressure-free space where your child is free to work at their own pace, with me guiding them and answering their questions along the way, so that we can tackle tricky topics together. If you’re looking for someone patient, enthusiastic, and committed to setting your child up for success in either subject, I’d love to work with you!
I have a year's experience tutoring students of a wide range of levels and abilities. I try to make my lessons very interactive and conversational to ensure that students are comfortable throughout. I am always open to feedback and am ready to adapt whenever needed, whether through direct feedback from the student or through discovering and incorporating the student’s learning style directly into my lessons. I care deeply for each student and work hard to ensure that they feel heard throughout the ups and downs of their educational journey. Many students I have taught struggle with the fast pace of learning at school, so I slow things down and never move on until the student has a full understanding of each topic.
My lessons are personalised to each student: in the few first lessons with a student, we collaboratively build a list of topics to target and I base my lessons around these topics, building a linear path for improvement that is clear to the student, defining progress in every lesson. I then continue to update this list whenever something comes up while teaching, either from the student's input or from my own observations through teaching, and clearly communicate the progress being made. My lessons are usually split into two parts: an explanation section where I will go through a topic, explaining step-by-step with examples and guided practice through the "I do, you do" method; and a practice section using exam or worksheet questions, where the student works through problems by themselves at first, with me there as a guide if they get stuck or need guidance.
I have experience with Edexcel and AQA exam boards at both GCSE and A Level; hence I am familiar with the different exam content and questions required for each exam board, and am able to teach tailored exam skills and technique to help students understand what each exam is asking from them.
