English postgraduate student, with experience tutoring KS3, GCSE and A level English Language and Literature
My approach is to help students develop analytical skills, refine essay writing, and prepare for exams with tailored support. My expertise includes literary analysis, creative and academic writing, and breaking down complex texts to boost confidence and performance. Carrying out lesson plans with the use of powerpoint, past exam papers, and preparing students for exams by offering supportive feedback.
I have tutored GCSE and A-Level English - language and literature - focusing on adapting lessons to suit each student’s individual needs. Having achieves 4 A's at A-levels in English language, English Literature, Psychology and Sociology, I can offer guidance in exam technique - especially after graduating from a Russel group University. By identifying students strengths and areas for improvement, I create a personalized approach that builds confidence, enhances essay writing, and develops strong analytical skills. Whether it’s mastering literary analysis, refining writing techniques, or preparing for exams, I ensure that each session is engaging, supportive, and tailored to help students achieve their full potential.
My lessons are structured to provide clear, focused, and personalized support. In the first session, I assess the student’s current abilities through discussion and a short written task to identify strengths and areas for improvement. From there, I create tailored lesson plans that align with their goals, whether that’s exam preparation, essay writing, or literary analysis. Each session includes a mix of explanation, guided practice, and interactive discussions to reinforce key concepts. I set homework to encourage independent learning and track progress, ensuring students continually build confidence and improve their skills.
I have extensive experience with major exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR, ensuring my teaching aligns with specific assessment objectives and mark schemes. I help students understand what examiners are looking for, from structuring high-scoring essays to effectively analyzing texts. My lessons focus on exam techniques, timed practice, and refining answers to meet the highest grading criteria. By working through past papers and model responses, I equip students with the skills and confidence needed to excel in their exams.

Many of my past students have achieved outstanding results, with several improving by two or more grade levels. For example, one GCSE student struggling with essay structure went from a grade 5 to a grade 8 in just a few months through targeted practice and exam technique refinement. Another A-Level student, who lacked confidence in comparative analysis, gained an A* after we focused on breaking down texts and developing strong, well-structured arguments. By tailoring my approach to individual needs, I’ve helped students not only meet but exceed their academic goals.
