I started teaching mathematics at a private tutorial college in Wales in 1987. I have been giving private tuition at home since 1988. From 2017 I have also been teaching online. I have a first class honours degree in mathematics from Goldsmiths College London (1997) where I won the Stanley Hails Prize. From 2009 to 2017 I worked at an Academy in Essex where I taught everything from GCSE to A level Further Mathematics, and STEP. I do not cover Decision Mathematics at A level.

I have mainly given one to one lessons at home and online. I worked for eight years at an academy in Essex.

Many of my lessons have to be unplanned since my students often want to go over what they are doing at school and this can change from week to week. Of course planned lessons are preferable. I find that the best structure is to demonstrate the technique being taught, explaining the concepts, and then get the student to solve problems with less and less intervention.

My experience has mainly been with Edexcel. But I have also taught AQA and OCR.

Numerous GCSE and A level students have told me that they thought that I made a big difference to their performance in examinations.
