I am a Newly Qualified Teacher, empowering tuition, that gives pupils of all abilities the guidance and confidence to succeed.
I am a newly qualified teacher having recently finished my PGCE course. I am compassionate, encouraging and believe that any child can succeed and thrive with the right guidance and support. Often over coming anxiety and self doubt concerning work is a huge barrier to achievement and through my tutoring I am to instil a sense of self belief and confidence in all my pupils. I have a large amount of experience in several different school contexts and a year working as a Teaching Assistant and Cover Teacher.
I have an up to date understanding of the latest teaching techniques and practical experience working with children of different age groups, capabilities and with a range of additional needs. I believe in constructive teaching centred on achieving understanding instead of simple rote learning. With a base of understanding pupils begin to feel more confident about their abilities which reflects in their work. I specialised in mathematics teaching and I am versed in the latest mastery techniques.
Lessons will be structured around providing opportunity for the pupil to discuss ideas and concepts and raise any concerns they may have. Learning and cementing key concepts will be prioritised so pupils feel confident and supported at every step of their learning. It is important to assess the particular needs of a pupil and build the lessons around them. An advantage of tutoring is that lessons can be tailored perfectly to the pupils strengths, weaknesses, interests and needs.
I am familiar with the AQA, Edexcel and OCR exam boards and have experience preparing year six pupils for their SATs.
When leading groups of year six pupils in small additional lessons they saw improvement upon their test scores. I however am more proud of the way they began to engage more fully with the work and take enjoyment in it. Especially when they had written off doing well in a subject.
