Helena C

I am Helena, a final year Forensic Investigation student at university, i am on track to achieving a 1st or a 2:1 in 2022. I am looking to become a secondary chemistry teacher. I’m happy to help you in both highschool level chemistry and biology. I am confident in teaching both advanced higher chemistry and biology as my university course has extensively covered the topics in the modules. Please send me a message if you have any questions!

I am new to tutoring. As I plan to be a Chemistry Teacher, I am very confident in my abilities to help students gain knowledge and pass assessments and exams with ease by giving them a personal plan of action and it’s their most suited method of study.I love to make learning fun so will incorporate interactive and exciting questions and tasks.

My lesson plans may vary but i would look to do a 5 minute set of starter questions surrounding the topic of the lesson, these would be quick fire rounds which may be small parts of questions from past papers etc. I would then go into the main body of the lesson with 2/3 sections on the main topic. The last 5 minutes would include a consolidation of the lesson topic to ensure the student has absorbed the material.

I am familiarised with the marking schemes presented from the SQA and how to study to suit these marking schemes.

With Family friends children I have assisted them in some revision for their exams, with some practice questions and working through them piece by piece as well as doing past paper questions and highlighting what the marks are actually awarded for. Both children went on to pass their exams.
