I am a qualified Secondary English teacher, with experience from KS3 to KS5. I currently teach in the classroom. I specialise in AQA English Language and Literature GCSEs, as well as Edexcel English Literature GCSE. As a kind, patient, and adaptive tutor, I tailor my approach to each student, helping them build confidence, strengthen skills, and achieve their best.

My tutoring experience is grounded in my role as a practicing Secondary English teacher in Manchester, where I support students across all abilities, including those in targeted intervention groups. My tutoring practice is centred around an attentive and considered approach, ensuring that I am attuned to the specific needs of each learner. I work in an organised and structured manner, setting clear objectives and providing the guidance necessary to achieve them. I am deeply committed to fostering academic progress and remain confident in the potential of every tutee to succeed.

In the first session, I carry out a baseline assessment and set SMART targets aligned with the student’s goals. Each lesson then follows a clear structure: retrieval practice, focused instruction, scaffolded modelling, and deliberate practice, with ongoing formative assessment to track progress.

I have helped students make rapid progress, including raising reading ages by up to four years in one academic year and achieving as much as three grades above targets. I have also supported students in developing confidence and oracy skills, as well as guiding borderline learners to secure a grade 4 pass in recent trial exams.
