Hi there! I’m Aleesha and I am a Literacy Specialist at a secondary school. I studied English Literature at University. I have experience in both classrooms and outside of classrooms with students. I deliver efficient 1-1 interactive tutoring and ensure the student is confident in the subject. I work with KS2, KS3 and GCSE students.
I have been delivering private tutoring sessions for over 3 years. I have experience teaching in several schools in my area. Additionally, I have helped students 1-1 in schools as a teaching assistant and done exam invigilating therefore, I can understand the stress students may feel due to exams. Moreover, I have an updated DBS and Safeguarding certificate :)
I always prepare my lessons beforehand which are personalised for each student. I work to the student’s strengths and build on their skills. I use a lot of online resources to help make the lessons more interactive for the student. I create activities for students to complete too to help introduce active recall into their learning which, helps boost grades up! I also create lessons in blocks by topic, for example, If I have a KS3 English student, I will create 6 lessons based on gothic poetry. My aim for year 10 and year 11 students is to teach them judicious analysis that takes them beyond classroom content and help them each higher grades of 7, 8 and 9. With GCSE students, we look at quotes and analyse them in a way that will stand out to the examiner!
Familiar with most exam boards. Strongest with AQA.
I have had students who were struggling to get a past grade 5/6 and pushed them that extra mile towards 7’s, 8’s and 9’s! Particularly, I had one student who was with me for 3 months but had a huge increase in her grades from a grade 5 to a grade 8!

“Very kind tutor who put a lot of effort into each lesson, ensuring that they were tailored specifically to what I struggled with. Help boosted my confidence in the subject by helping me go through the basics as well as teaching me content beyond a typical GCSE level so my answers stood out. ”
