I am an engineering student, having enjoyed maths all though school I am now incorporating it into my degree. I achieved an A in maths in all of my national exams, my most recent being Advanced higher. During my last year of school I helped in a Primary 6 maths class and assisted both individuals and groups of students when they needed help.

New to tutoring I plan on being enthusiastic with the student. In the past I have helped younger years with maths as well as assisting my sister with her National 5 maths. Since I am new to formal tutoring I will utilise my skills I have already gained to ensure the student is happy and understands the concepts at their own pace.

My first lesson will be understanding which topics the student is happy with and areas where they need help. This lesson will also include getting to know the student and finding out what best works for them. Thereafter, the general structure of my lessons will be to focus on a topic a session, looking at practice questions together and testing the students knowledge. Equally if the student has a particular exercise or paper from school they would like to look at then that would become the priority of that session. In this sense my lessons are very flexible and depend on what the student would like to look at and gain from the sessions.

I am very familiar with the Scottish Exam boards having sat my national exams not long ago. However, I will always ensure to check any amendments to the course as I do know they can change very frequently.
