An experienced, reliable and supportive tutor
I am a recent university graduate in BSc Human and Social Sciences (Psychology and Sociology) with over 460 hours of tutoring experience. I have tutored pupils from primary to A Level, as well as adult learners, and with the UK Government funded National Tutoring Programme. While I mainly focus on Psychology (GCSE and A Level) and English (KS3 and GCSE), I can tutor Sociology, Classical Civilisation, 11+ and primary English. I am passionate about working with SEND students and I have taught pupils with a range of learning styles. I have implemented a variety of different learning techniques and have a thorough knowledge of exam adjustments through my experience invigilating GCSE and A Level exams.
While I am new to tutorspot, I have been working as a tutor for the past four years.
Every lesson is highly interactive and tailored to each student's individual needs. I explore each key topic in depth, ensuring students have a solid grasp of the subject, whilst developing effective exam technique. My teaching methods and lesson activities for Psychology include: active recall (to ensure students fully understand key topics, distributed practice (to aid memory and revision), practice exam questions, quizzes and mindmaps. For English lessons, I focus on building a strong foundation in reading, writing and comprehension skills. Thic could include an emphasis on grammar, vocabulary or creative writing. I regularly use mindmaps, video clips, extracts, and practice questions to develop analytical skills, foster creativity, and practice written expression.
Having two years of experience invigilating GCSE and A Level exams, I am closely aware of exam procedures and requirements. Psychology: I tutor a range of exam boards including AQA, OCR, WJEC and Cambridge International. English: AQA, Edexcel, OCR. I am also available for adult learners. Please inquire about any other exam boards.
I regularly work with students in the run up to their exams with all achieving their predicted grades and above. I also have 100% 5* reviews from previous tutees and parents.
