- A keen student with a love for learning
- Willing to work hard with the student to aid their progress in whatever way I can
- Previous experience with tutoring and / or coaching and aiding students in their learning
I have previous experience working and aiding children with learning. I have done work experience at a primary school working with children ages 4 to 11. Moreover, I was also a peer mentor for three girls aged 14, as well as two girls in year 12 with Classical Civilisation A level making resources for them to learn with during my two years at sixth form. This role involved working weekly, aiding them in homework and any struggles with motivation or organisation they were having. Alongside this, I have worked with a local scout group as a leader and as a coach at my local club for netball both weekly for 2 years.
I base my classes around the key area the student is struggling. I’ve done work experience with Children, therefore, I am aware of the need to adapt lesson plans for each student and the different ways in which people learn.
Students struggling with motivation and organisation may need a push, in a positive direction, to help structure their work and find ways to make it more exciting, whether it be adding colour or changing the format that they revise in.
I understand, as a recent student, how gruelling and daunting exams can be. As a tutor I would, therefore, consider their well - being when setting work to prepare for their next lesson as well as giving advice on any exam tips to help with any worries they may have around the subject.
The progress of the student would be my core focus and I will work hard to ensure this is achieved. Putting time and effort into each lesson plan for individual students and adapting as needed would be what I strive to achieve.
Student Success Stories
One of my students was really struggling with English. He was a year 11, with mocks and exams looming. Working with him once sometimes twice a week for 3 months, together we managed to get his grade from averaging a 3/4 to a 6. I also had a class of year 7,8,9 and 10 supporting a school through the pandemic. I helped them keep up with their studies for 3 weeks until the summer holidays.
