I am a Biology NQT currently teaching Year 7-13 in Wales according to the WJEC specification. I offer science and maths lessons from Year 7-11 and Biology lessons for Year 12-13. I studied Biomedical Sciences at Cardiff University and completed my PGCE in Swansea. I have had experience teaching since I was 15 years old and am passionate about making sure that learning is accessible and enjoyable for you. I have spent some time teaching English, maths and science to students in the Flying Angels school in Zambia. I have been teaching science to Years 7-13 in Wales throughout my PGCE and have excellent knowledge of the curriculum and WJEC requirements. I ensure my students enjoy my lessons whilst learning content, and will explain in multiple ways if you don't understand it the first time. I usually start my lessons with a short recap activity to consolidate previous material. I will go through mark schemes and exam techniques to help you achieve the most marks available (biology mark schemes tend to be quite picky!). My priority is increasing your academic performance whilst making sure that you are still enjoying the subject. I love biology and I'm sure my enthusiasm will be infectious (pun intended) :) I am here to help you and I will let you lead the lessons. You will choose what topics you want to go over and I will give you the means to feel confident in your knowledge.

I have experience tutoring from a young age. From the age of 15 I was tutoring other GCSE students in chemistry, biology and maths. I also have experience tutoring primary school children in Latin. In sixth form, I volunteered to teach english, maths and science in Zambia to pupils aged between 11-18. My sixth form classes are quite small (5-10 students) so my lessons are tailored to suit the needs of each individual student as opposed to teaching to a certain average level.

My lessons will usually start with a small recap activity so that I can gauge your understanding of the topic so far. I will address any misconceptions if you have and will follow on from there. For exam classes, I will end my lessons with past paper question practice which will be very helpful for familiarising yourself with the structure and format of exams. This will also help you to understand how to follow mark schemes and what key terms and phrases you need to use. I do not set homework for my students (you get enough from school!) but I will send you resources and questions which you can choose to look at in your own time to further solidify your knowledge.
